Do It Yourself |
- Unpack graphics from packaging.
- If worried about installing graphics that were delivered rolled up then leave flat overnight.
- Clean surface that graphics will be applied to. Soapy water
will work well
(for stubborn grease and glue ask for "Prepsol - or equivelant" at
a paint shop, or
use Spray Brake Cleaner form a service station).
- Position graphics with tabs of masking tape. Measure and
stand back to ensure correct position.
- Place a full strip of tape across top. This will work as a hinge
when laying the graphics down.
- Lift up and remove backing paper or film. IF
UNSURE OF
ABILITIES ENLIST SOME EXTRA HANDS.

- Slowly and evenly squeegee the graphics to the surface in a
downward and outward motion.
Peel away application tape from the sign.
Make small incisions with a sharp graphics cutter
to release
air from any large bubbles or creases. Do not worry about small
bubbles as they will evaporate and flatten out in a day or two.
Once you are used to this procedure it is possible to speed
things up by avoiding the
masking tape method. Instead you would hold the graphics in place and make a couple
of marks with a chinagraph pencil (writes on all surfaces, and rubs off). Than
peeling off
the backing and then placing the graphics on by eye to your marks. With practice
this
will halve your installation time.
If all else fails then seek the assistance of a signwriter. Although nowhere as
cheap as
doing it yourself.
